Another title

Top seed Century won its ninth consecutive West Region Tournament title, but it didn't come easy. The Patriots were pushed to the limit by No. 2 Jamestown. The Blue Jays led 8-5 in the fifth set before Century scored 10 of the next 12 points. This marked the sixth time the two met in the final. Century has won all six showdowns. Century heads to the Class A Tournament as a No. 1 seed. Jamestown will be a No. 2 seed, so the two could meet again.

Five-set thrillers

Both state qualifiers needed five sets to determine a winner on Saturday, Nov. 12 in Dickinson. Fifth seeded St. Mary's advanced to the Class A Tournament for a second consecutive season following its win over No. 6 Dickinson. It marked the first time since 1992 that the Saints have qualified to the state tournament in back-to-back seasons. No. 3 Legacy earned another trip, topping rival and No. 4 seed Bismarck High.
