BISMARCK – Defending WDA and West Region Tournament champion Minot High is the clear-cut favorite to capture this season's regular season boys' tennis conference title, according to coaches. The Magicians received a six first place votes to accumulate the maximum amount of points at 36. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own team. Legacy is second with 29 points and earned the other first place vote. Mandan is third with 26 points followed by Century with 23. Bismarck High is fifth with 14 points; Jamestown sixth with 12 and Williston is seventh with seven points.
Teams received six points for a first place vote; five points for second place; four for third place; three for fourth place; two for fifth place; and one for sixth. As mentioned, coaches do not include their team in voting. The poll was conducted by Matt Mullally, WDA executive secretary.
Season notes
The 48th WDA season gets underway on Friday, Aug. 19 for a number of teams. Minot is again hosting its annual round robin event on Saturday, Aug. 20. The West Region Tournament will be held again in Minot, Sept. 29--Oct. 1. The ND State Tournament will also be hosted by Minot, Oct. 6-8.
