BISMARCK – Defending WDA champion Legacy is once again the conference coaches' pick to win the league title. The Sabers picked up five first place votes along with 35 points in the annual boys' tennis preseason poll. Minot was second with 32 points and garnered the other two first place votes. Century was third in voting with 24 points; Jamestown was fourth; Mandan in fifth; Williston in sixth and Bismarck High in seventh.
Teams received six points for a first place vote; five points for second place; four for third place; three for fourth place; two for fifth place; and one for sixth. Coaches did not include their teams in voting. The poll was conducted by Matt Mullally, WDA executive secretary.
The season gets underway on Friday, Aug. 21 with a pair of dual matches. Due to COVID-19, no non-conference matches or individual tournaments will be held in the regular season. Instead, the WDA has implemented a double round robin schedule of conference duals. The region tournament is set for Oct. 1-3 in Minot. The state tournament will again be held in Grand Forks, Oct. 8-10.
