Minot gets top spot in preseason coaches WDA poll
2022 WDA Girls' Tennis Poll
BISMARCK – Minot picked up seven first place votes and 63 points to take the top spot in this year's WDA preseason coaches poll. Legacy was second in vote with 57 points and picked up the two other first place votes. St. Mary's was third in voting with 43 points.
Century and Dickinson tied for fourth with 37 points. Bismarck High finished with sixth with 29 points. There was little separation in the final three spots. Defending WDA and state champion Mandan collected 21 points. Williston was eighth with 19 points while Jamestown rounded out the poll with 18 points.
Teams received eight points for a first place vote; seven points for second place; six for third place; five for fourth place; four for fifth place; three for sixth; two for seventh; and one for eighth. Coaches did not include their teams in voting. The poll was conducted by Matt Mullally, WDA executive secretary.
Season notes
The 45th WDA/West Region girls' tennis season is served up on Tueday, April 19, weather permitting. The Minot Round Robin Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 23. This year's West Region Tournament is hosted by Minot, March 26-28. The state tournament is again in Grand Forks, June 2-4.
