AA Season Notes & Statistical Leaders

*This was the 62nd season of WDA-sponsored play. *Bismarck High won its 11th WDA regular season title and first since 2012. The Demons’ West Region Tournament crown was their first since 2020. *Century successfully defended its Division AA state title. It was the Patriots’ fifth overall. *Bismarck High, Century, Dickinson and Legacy qualified for the state tournament. Bismarck High, Century and Dickinson all won their quarterfinal games. WDA’s four teams placed 1-2-3-5 (Century, BHS, Dickinson, Legacy). *Century and Bismarck High met in the state championship game for the second time (2011; Century won). It marked the first time since 2017 that two WDA teams reached the championship. *Dickinson’s third place showing was its best finish since 2017 (third). *Legacy’s fifth place finish was a program best. *St. Mary’s advanced to the West Region quarterfinals for the first time since 2022. *Dickinson changed its name/mascot to Mavericks. *Century won its first 17 games and Bismarck High also had a lengthy unbeaten streak, winning 14 in a row before falling to Century in the state championship. *Bismarck High scored 100 or more points a WDA-best six times. *Bismarck High’s Artie Carlow was West Region senior athlete of the year. *Bismarck High’s Jordan Wilhelm was WDA and state coach of the year. *The WDA posted a 22-7 record vs. EDC (Div. Postseason Results

The 2025-26 boys' basketball postseason for WDA Division AA teams began with West Region Tournament play. Two play-in games were conducted Feb. 27. The quarterfinals were March 5 at the Bismarck Event Center. Loser-out and semifinals were March 6 with two state-qualifiers and the championship play on March 7. The top four place winners advanced to the Division AA Tournament.

The Region 3 Tournament was held at the Minot State Dome while the Region 4 Tournament was held at Standing Rock High School.  The 2025-26 boys' basketball Division A state qualifying games were held Feb. 28. The second place and third place finishers from Region 3 and Region 4 participated in games held at the Minot Auditorum.  The second place and third place finishers from Region 1 and Region 2  participated in games played at Fargo Scheels Center in the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. Winners advanced to the Division A state tournament.
