Girls Golf: Class A Meet
Event Recap
BISMARCK - EDC teams took the top three spots at the Class A Tournament on Oct. 6 at Riverwood G.C. WF Sheyenne defended its title with Fargo Shanley taking runner-up honors and WF Horace placing third. Mandan was the top WDA placewinner, finishing fourth. Mandan junior Isabella Hale was medalist. She carded a 36-hole total of 157, including a sizzling back nine on day two. In addition to Hale, three other WDA golfers placed in the top 10 to earn all-tournament accolades. They were: Legacy's Rawni Roemmich; Century's Ashlen Larsen; and Watford City's Harlee Olson.
G.F. Red River held a one stroke lead after the first round over WF Sheyenne. The Mustangs improved their score by 17 strokes on day two.
The weather conditions were summer like, with temps in the 70s, sunny skies and little wind. Bill Kalanek from Legacy was named state coach of the year, and Ava Keene from West Fargo Sheyenne received the state senior athlete of the year award.
