MANDAN - Fargo South secured a 2-0 victory over Grand Forks Red River in the State Tournament Championship, improving their record to 13-3-2, while Red River concluded their season at 10-6-4.
Fargo South's Moussa Sanoh opened the scoring early in the second minute, with an assist from Prajal Rai, setting the tone for the match. The Bruins maintained pressure throughout, with goalkeeper David Robinson making three crucial saves to preserve the shutout.
In the 74th minute, Luis Lemo Bustamante doubled Fargo South's lead with a successful penalty kick, sealing the team's first championship win since 2009. Red River's Andrew Christianson was active in goal, recording nine saves to keep his team in contention.
Fargo South's victory marked their third championship meeting win against Red River, who were appearing in their first title match since 2005.
