MINOT - A pair of third quarter touchdowns provided Minot North with some breathing room and the Sentinels opened their season with a 35-20 decision over visiting Williston at Sentinel Stadium on Aug. 28 in a matchup for Division AA/AAA teams. Williston opened the scoring when wide receiver Leo Kendor sprinted past the North secondary and caught a Noah Rath pass in stride for a 74-yard scoring strike. North would get on the board on Braxton Thompson's 1-yard run. The team would trade scores in the second quarter and it was 14-all at the break. The game turned in the third when Rohan Fauske rumbled in from nine yards. The Sentinels would fake a punt and pick up a first down to extend a drive in Coyote territory. It lead to Gavin Gathman's 11-yard pass from QB Henry Woodbeck. Both teams added scores in the final quarter. It was the second year in a row Minot North topped Williston in the opener. Williston will look to bounce back against Dickinson (1-0) on September 4, while Minot North faces Fargo South (0-1) on the same day.
