Mandan defeats Century, 9-0

BISMARCK -- Mandan opened its conference schedule with a 9-0 victory over the Century on Aug. 25 at Sertoma Courts.
Leading the charge for Mandan was No. 1 Jared Christen, who continued his strong start to his senior season, picking a straight-set win over Century's Ryan Mullally. The Braves also earned straight set wins at No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles.
In doubles, Mandan won all matches in straight sets. Century's Teddy Andrist and Mandan's Donaven Birdine needed a third set tiebreak to settle the match at No. 4 singles. Birdine earned the win. The teams will meet again for a non-conter later this season. Mandan improved to 4-0 overall. Century fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
Looking ahead, Mandan will face Minot North, who holds a 4-1 overall record, on August 27. Century will aim to bounce back against Legacy, currently at 1-4 overall, also on August 27.
