FARGO - Bismarck High's Cole Lardy busted through the line and rambled 54 yards to provide the Demons the winning score over Fargo Shanley in a battle of Division AA unbeatens on Sept. 11 at Sid Cichy Stadium. The score completed a fourth quarter comeback for BHS, which improved to 3-0 with the 29-22 triumph.

The first half was defined by mistakes and miscues as both teams combined for five turnovers. Senior receiver Weston Scott provided the early spark for the Demons, reeling in a catch from Kaden Molena in traffic and then powering forward into the goal line from 22 yards out. The 7-0 lead held up until Shanley's offense found its footing in the second half. Dynamic quarterback Jacob Perkerewicz showcased his versatility with two rushing touchdowns and a passing score on a rollout, helping his team gain momentum in the third quarter. Trailing 22-14, BHS would put together a solid drive, capped off by Braxton Dutchuk's four-yard run. Earlier, Dutchuk had a 96-yard TD scamper. The successful two-point conversion tied the game. Then, the defense stiffened, and forced Shanley to turn the ball over on down with 5:55 to play. That would set up Lardy's late-game heroics.

Next, Bismarck faces Fargo Davies (2-0) on September 18, while Fargo Shanley will play Minot (0-3) on the same day.
