Century is coaches' pick to win WDA

BISMARCK – Defending WDA and state champion Bismarck Century is again the team to beat in volleyball. The perennial power received eight first place votes and 80 total points to claim the top spot in the annual WDA preseason coaches' poll. Bismarck High was second in voting with 73 points and garnered one first place tally. Bismarck Legacy was third with 63 points and also earned a first place vote. There will little separation for spots 4-5-6. Dickinson received 45 points followed by Jamestown with 43 and Minot High with 40. Rounding out the poll was Minot North in seventh with 36 points; Mandan in eighth with 34 points; Bismarck St. Mary's in ninth with 25 points and Williston in 10th with 11 points. Teams received nine points for a first place votes; 8 for second; 7 for third; 6 for fourth; 5 for fifth; 4 for sixth; 3 for seventh; 2 for eighth; 1 for ninth. Coaches did not select their own team during voting. 

News and Notes: This marks the 43rd season of WDA-sponsored play…WDA members TMCHS (Belcourt) and Watford City are competing in the newly-formed Divison A after the NDHSAA created three divisions of volleyball…The West Region Tournament will be hosted by Mandan, November, 13-15…Division AA teams will open the season with the annual BPS Crossover on Aug. 29-30.
