BISMARCK – The 51st season of WDA-sponsored girls’ tennis will get served up on April 10 and defending conference and ND state champion Minot High was again the WDA coaches’ pick to win the conference.
The Majettes received 9 first place votes and 81 points to earn the top spot unanimously. Bismarck Century was second with 70 points and earned the other first place vote. Bismarck Legacy third 59 points and Dickinson just a point back with 58. Mandan was fifth with 46 points.
Rounding out the poll was Williston in sixth with 40; Bismarck High in seventh with 29; Minot North in eigth with 27; Jamestown in ninth with 23; and Bismarck St. Mary’s in 10th with 17 points.
Coaches did not vote for their own team in the poll. Teams received nine points for a first-place vote; 8 for second; 7 for third; 6 for fourth; 5 for fifth; 4 for sixth; 3 for seventh; 2 for eighth; and 1 for ninth. The poll was conducted by Matt Mullally, WDA SID.
The season begins for several teams later this week, weather permitting. The West Region Tournament will be hosted by Minot in May 21-23 with Grand Forks Public Schools hosting the Class A Tournament, May 28-30 at Choice Health and Fitness Complex.
