Roberts named Minot North girls' basketball coach

MINOT –  Minot North High School has officially named Jesse Roberts as the new head coach for its girls basketball program. A native of Minot, Roberts brings a wealth of experience both as a player and a coach to the position, having played under Minot High coach Dean Winczewski during his high school years and achieving two state championships in 2015 and 2016.

Roberts graduated from Minot High School in 2016 and went on to play two years at Bismarck State College under Coach Gillis, where he completed his studies in 2018. He then earned his degree from Minot State University in 2020. Roberts has been active coaching since 2018, serving two years with Surrey Summer Baseball before joining the Minot High School girls basketball program as an assistant coach. Over the last seven seasons, he has worked under Coach Jason Schwarz, contributing to the development of the team, which include two state titles. Roberts takes over the Sentinel program as it looks to build on its legacy in girls basketball. Minot North finished 4-18 last season. The 2026-27 season will be its third at the varsity level.
