Three WDA teams in top five in girls' hockey poll

MINOT –  Fargo North-South is the coaches’ pick to take the top spot in the ND girls’ hockey league standings this season. The Spruins picked up six of 12 first place votes and 113 total points. Defending state champion Legacy-Bismarck High was a close second with 104 points and five first place votes. Bismarck Century was third with 94 points. The preseason poll was conducted by Bob Gillen, ND state hockey statistician. Grand Forks was fourth in voting following by Mandan in fifth; West Fargo United in sixth; Fargo Davies, which also earned a first place vote, was seventh. Minot United was eighth; Dickinson, ninth; WIlliston, 10th; Jamestown, 11th; and Devils Lake, 12th.
This marks the 23rd season of NDHSAA-state sponsored play. The top eight placewinners in the league standings will qualify of the ND state tournament which will be held in Fargo in late February.
