Williston defeats Dickinson, 8-7

MINOT - Williston edged WDA rival Dickinson 8-7 in an extra-inning thriller in the Class A Tournament Championship on May 30 at Minot's South Hill Complex. The title was the Coyotes' second in a row while Dickinson was bidding for its fourth, and first since 2024. Williston tied the score at six with a run in the top of the sixth inning. The Coyotes then pushed a run across in the eighth, but Dickinson scored one of its own. Williston added another run in the seventh and held off the Mavericks' final push to force another inning.

Williston's offense was powered by Jada Heller, who hit three doubles and scored twice. Rylee Irgens contributed with two runs and two hits, including a double. Catcher Ava Wilcox added two RBIs and two hits, supporting the Coyotes' scoring efforts.

On the mound, Addison Thomas pitched a complete game for Williston, striking out six in nine innings. Despite allowing seven runs, Thomas's resilience kept Williston in the game. For Dickinson, Madyson Koffler and Kaci Peterson each had two hits, with Peterson driving in two runs.

This marked the fourth year in a row that two WDA teams played for the title, and sixth consecutive title for the conference. Williston ended its season at 30-3 overall, while Dickinson concluded their season at 30-4.
