GRAND FORKS - Grand Forks Central advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament with a 4-1 victory over Minot. The Knights improved to 2-0 overall, while Minot stands at 17-7 overall, 5-2 in the WDA.
Rylan Spicer was dominant for Grand Forks Central in singles play, defeating Oliver Thompson 6-1, 6-2. Isiah Cormier also secured a win for the Knights, besting Tyson Barden 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles action, the duo of Brady Fee and Kasen Panzer clinched a victory against Connor Ressler and Calvin Olson with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-1. Hennings Gibbs and Charlie Miedema added another point for Central, overcoming Henrik Evanoff and Owen Sundahl 6-1, 6-2.
Next up, Grand Forks Central will face Mandan, who boasts a 6-1 WDA and 19-2 overall record. Minot's season concludes with this quarterfinal match.
