Legacy defeats Minot, 34-21

October 2, 2026  ·  Football  ·  WDA Sports

MINOT - Good teams know how to close out games. Legacy proved that on Friday, Oct. 2 at Minot's Duane Carlson Stadium. Legacy's offense took to the field with 7:59 to play and nursing a six-point lead over Minot High. The Sabers offense would chew up nearly five minutes of clock with its rushing attack. The key play was a conversion on fourth down and two by rusher Caleb Johnson. The drive was capped off by junior Bridger Bloms' third score of the contest. He finished with 169 yards on the ground. Legacy would prevail 34-21 over the Magi to improve to 2-0 in AAA WDA play and 5-1 overall. Minot High again showed flashes of brilliance, but again had to settle for a good performance, but no win. The Magi are 0-2 in the AAA WDA and 0-5 overall.

For a second week in a row, Minot would strike first. Quarterback Ryder Sutton threw a pretty 50-yard rainbow pass to wide out Tariq Bell in the opening quarter. Bell sprinted past the secondary and made the catch in the end zone. He finished with 119 receiving yards. Legacy would answer with a pair of second quarter scores. Blom would break through tacklers for a 16-yard run. And then quarterback Weston Kraft would find Josh Link near the sidelines. Link would break a tackle and scamper into the end zone. He had a team-best 87 receiving yards.

The Saber lead was extended in the third on Johnson's 31-yard TD run. Minot would trim the deficit on Bell's second TD reception. This coming on a fourth down and goal play from the seven. However, Legacy stretched the lead again on Blom's second scoring run. Minot's final TD was another Sutton connection. This one was good for 34 yards to Korbin Kraft. Sutton finished with 208 passing yards.

Legacy will face Bismarck, also 2-0 in the WDA and 5-1 overall, on October 9. Minot will look for their first win against Century, who are 1-1 in the WDA and 1-5 overall, on the same day.
