Girls Golf: West Region Meet
Event Recap
DICKINSON - Mandan continued its mastery at the West Region West Region Meet, besting the field on September 22at Heart River Golf Course. The Braves' total of 323 was followed by Minot North at 331 in second and Legacy at 344 in third. Three other teams earned state-qualifying spots. St. Mary's in fourth with 350, Century in fifth at 351, and Williston in sixth with 355. Dickinson, Minot High, Jamestown, Watford City, Bismarck High, and TMCHS Belcourt rounded out the field.
Lola Huber from St. Mary's was the tournament medalist with a score of 75. The senior was the first Saint golfer to earn the region individual crown since Sydney Smith in 2016. Emersyn Kopp and Kinzy Welstad from Minot North finished strong with 77 and 78, respectively. Brittyn Mettler from Mandan also stood out with a score of 79.
This event served as a qualifier for the Class A Tournament in Fargo, with the top six teams advancing. Several individual golfers also met state qualifying standards. Kinzy Welstad of North was region senior athlete of the year. Mandan's Dean Johs was coach of the year.
